MoreCustomersAI specializes in helping small businesses get recommended to customers through AI.
The way consumers select service providers is changing rapidly right now, with the introduction of easy access to AI on the consumer level. Consumers are now turning to “AI engines” (ChatGPT, Gemini, the Google AI, etc.) on a daily basis to answer their questions, solve their problems – and help them quickly and efficiently determine who they should hire when they need a good local service provider, whether it be a roofer, real estate agent, HVAC service, plumber… etc.
When your business is recommended to consumers by AI, it not only gives your business valuable exposure and visibility – it also positions your company as a leader and authority in your market, and that creates instant trust.
Consumers have a lot of confidence in the recommendations AI makes and are much more likely to convert into a paying customer from an AI recommendation as opposed to simply from seeing an ad, or from finding you in a list of regular search engine results.
Getting a business recommended by AI – and ensuring that you continue to be recommended – is a complex, mutii-faceted process that requires a high level of skill and advanced understanding about how AI systems operate. It also entails expertise in consumer behaviour analysis (because AIs are trained to recognize and understand consumer behaviour patterns as part of how they make recommendations). While some people think getting a business recognized and recommended by AI is similar to getting a business to rank in Google, the fact is there is an entirely different skill set and level of expertise involved when positioning a business within AI. Unlike a search engine that has
While there are some vague surface-level similarities to factors used to rank websites in search engines like Google, getting and business discovered by AI and consistently recommended goes well beyond “SEO”. It requires a level of specialization that draws upon a foundation of computer science combined with advanced marketing expertise.
Here at MoreCustomersAI our founders bring the advanced expertise and credentials to get your business discovered and recommended by AI.
Absolutely. And I think the 30 years of actually owning and operating local businesses should be much more than a credential buried in a paragraph—it should be one of the central ideas of the story.
The strongest positioning, in my view, is essentially:
We didn’t come to GEO from SEO. We came to GEO from three decades on both sides of the equation: understanding technology and search, understanding consumers, and actually running local businesses ourselves.
Here’s a polished About-page draft that leans into that distinction without sounding like you’re taking cheap shots at younger SEO practitioners. About Us — Full Version
We’ve Been on Both Sides of the Search Box
For more than 30 years, we’ve been doing something that’s become increasingly rare in the digital marketing world:
We’ve actually owned and operated local businesses ourselves.
That matters.
Because there’s a very different perspective that comes from sitting on the other side of the marketing equation—being the business owner who has to generate leads, answer the phone, serve customers, manage expenses, deal with competition, and make every marketing dollar count.
We know what it’s like to build visibility for a local business because we’ve spent decades doing it ourselves.
We Were Doing SEO Before Most Businesses Knew What SEO Was
Our experience with search marketing goes all the way back to 1999, when SEO was still in its infancy and most business owners had never heard the term.
Over the decades, we’ve worked with SEO and a wide range of other online and offline marketing strategies, while continually adapting to the way search engines, technology, and consumer behaviour have evolved.
But our experience isn’t limited to marketing other businesses.
We’ve owned and operated several local businesses over the past 30 years—including today—and have handled our own SEO and digital marketing throughout that time.
In other words, we haven’t spent 30 years studying local business marketing from the outside.
We’ve lived it.
We Approach AI Differently
There’s another important piece to our background.
One of us holds an Honours Degree in Computer Science and has a strong aptitude for understanding artificial intelligence at a more fundamental and abstract level—not simply as a collection of tactics, tools, prompts, or technical checklists.
That distinction matters in a rapidly changing environment.
Generative AI and AI-powered search aren’t simply another version of traditional search. The systems being used by ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google and others are changing the way information is interpreted, evaluated, synthesized and presented to users.
We believe succeeding in this environment requires understanding how these systems think about information, not simply applying the same old SEO playbook and replacing the word “SEO” with “GEO.”
Technical signals such as structured data, entity information, citations and consistency can certainly matter. But they’re only pieces of a much bigger picture.
We Understand Why Customers Choose
Our perspective is also informed by more than two decades of studying consumer behaviour—how and why people make decisions, what influences those decisions, how they evaluate alternatives, and what causes them to trust one business over another.
Over the years, that has evolved into a particular strength in developing strategies designed to anticipate, influence and ultimately improve consumer decision-making.
And that becomes especially interesting in the world of AI.
Because when someone asks an AI engine:
“Who’s the best HVAC company near me?”
or
“Who should I call for a roof repair?”
the fundamental question isn’t simply:
“Which business has the best SEO?”
It’s closer to:
“Which business does the AI believe is the most appropriate recommendation for this particular customer and situation?”
That requires us to think beyond rankings and visibility—and consider relevance, authority, trust, reputation, context, consumer intent and the signals that collectively influence how a business is understood.
Three Decades. Multiple Perspectives. One Goal.
Our approach to GEO is therefore built on several complementary areas of expertise:
- 30+ years of owning and operating local businesses
- 25+ years of SEO and digital marketing experience
- An Honours-level Computer Science background and deep interest in AI
- 20+ years of studying consumer behaviour and decision-making
- Decades of experience with both online and offline marketing
- First-hand experience with the unique challenges faced by local and home-service businesses
Each of those perspectives is useful on its own.
Together, they give us a very different way of looking at the problem.
We understand the technology.
We understand search and marketing.
We understand how consumers make decisions.
And perhaps most importantly, we understand what it means to be the business owner who has to make it all work in the real world.
That’s the perspective we bring to GEO.
Not simply how to get a business found—but how to make a business the kind of business that AI engines can understand, trust, and confidently recommend.
I deliberately made the tone confident rather than combative. The temptation here would be to say, “Unlike the typical 26-year-old SEO…”—and while I understand exactly what you’re getting at, I don’t think that needs to be said explicitly. Your experience makes the contrast obvious without making you sound defensive or dismissive.
I also think there is an even stronger, more distinctive version we could develop if you want the About page to function as a major piece of your positioning rather than simply a credentials page. In that version, I’d build the story around “We didn’t pivot from SEO to GEO—we’ve been preparing for this for decades” and make the 30 years of business ownership the emotional spine of the page. That could be considerably more memorable.
With an Honours Computer Science degree, 30 years of both online and offline marketing experience that includes SEO and digital marketing since 1999, combined with a long history of running local businesses, we understand this
